Youthful Energy in a Retro Shell

The second loft of the Baked Apartment project is designed as a vivid, youthful reinterpretation of the 1970s apartment spirit. Positioned in the shell of a former bakery within a typical ‘70s urban block in Ioannina, the 40 sqm loft embraces a bold, graphic identity that balances retro nostalgia with fresh, contemporary energy.

A vivid color-blocking strategy defines the interior: electric blue walls, a sculptural yellow staircase, and vibrant accent lighting compose a dynamic palette. These saturated tones are softened by the use of soft off-white textures, curvilinear furniture and natural light. The loft structure—partially double-height—maximizes spatial clarity and verticality in a compact footprint.

Contemporary materials like metal mesh, glossy tiles, and matte finishes are combined with neon signs, oversized circular lights, and playful graphic lines to create a sense of visual rhythm. The expressive lighting design, including hanging ring luminaires and warm glows, contributes to the immersive spatial experience.

This loft is conceived as a space for young, urban individuals who seek personality, efficiency, and a vibrant sense of place—where retro is not remembered but reimagined.
